About the Author

It was whilst walking my dog on the wooded slopes of a Mediterranean pine forest that my imagination was first led astray—taken by the charm of that mysterious and quiet place.

By day, the woods appeared deserted but for the flutter of a sparrow or the chatter of a magpie. Yet with each visit, I could never shake the sensation that I was trespassing through a land that didn’t belong to the likes of you and me.

This wasn’t merely a place of trees and hiking trails. It belonged to residents who lived concealed from view, in a realm that our ancestors had long since been banished from—or had willingly left behind.

It felt alive—a lived-in place, full of secrets. It made me wonder if I was simply blind to the life that existed there, and so, I decided to see if the creatures and their stories would reveal themselves through words.

My imagination was looking for a home, and in that woodland, it was welcomed with open arms—to put down roots and grow.

So, I sat down to write, and let the forests and groves share their secrets. You can read all about them in The Scars of Brashdown Valley Series.

This trilogy follows the lives of people and creatures who live between worlds, exploring themes of transformation, identity, perception, and the boundaries between desire and autonomy.

Complex characters emerge from the depths of atmospheric settings, their lives taking unexpected twists in liminal worlds ruled by emotion.

My Writing

Hailing from an ancient city in the north of England, I hear the voices of Vikings, Celts, and Saxons whisper in my ears. I’ve walked Roman roads atop windswept moors, felt the same weathered stones beneath my fingertips as the early tribes who roamed the rolling fells and dales. Ancient forests, shrouded in mist, and towering monoliths, standing proud since prehistoric times, have left me humbled and spellbound.

Seduced by both the maddening heat of the Mediterranean shores and the cool misty moors of the north—where clouds bury the forests and towns below—I hope to tell more of their stories. I want to give voice to a world we can no longer hear, living tuned out from its delicate frequency—deafened and distracted by the constant noise of our ‘civilised’ ways.

Current and Upcoming Work

With the first book in The Scars of Brashdown Valley Series now available, more stories are in progress, and new releases are planned for the years ahead.

The next book of the series, From Your Wounds They Come, leaves the forest behind for bright city lights, dangerous streets, and dusty, ancient crypts. But even beneath the sanitising lights, pockets of creatures from the other side survive and thrive. Sparks fly as the two worlds collide and new creatures awaken to join the melee.
